The first thing you notice about the HP Envy 5540 printer is its sleek black design, which can either be neatly hidden away or proudly displayed in any home office. It is an all in one printer which provides excellent value for money and delivers high quality prints. If you are looking for something a little cheaper try the HP 1512 inkjet all in one printer
It is better suited to low volume printing but as a home or small business this is likely to be fine for your purposes. There are loads of additional features for the money which is why I have chosen it as my top 3.
It can photo print, not just standard print, due to the quality of the inks, as well as scan and photocopy. It is absolutely packed with features for the money. It can do WI FI AND USB printing (great if you want to move around the house to work), as well as double sided printing.
It is set up so that you are able to print from your smart phone which is actually a very useful function
It has a touchscreen where you can input your print requirements, keeping it very up to date, and lets be honest, considering printers aren’t the most exciting thing in the world, this one really delivers in terms of the blend between form and functionality.
And it works with most standard operating systems from Windows Vista to Windows 10 and OS X from Lion to Yosemite
it is incredibly simple to set up and get going so you can start using it pretty quickly.
For a low cost printer, the main advantage of the HP Envy 5540 is the quality of the colour printing, despite the budget. This is because It uses a thermal inkjet with CMYK inks which gives a really spot on colour and borderless printing means you can really create that photo effect. Right up to 10 x 15 paper size.
As is the case with most inkjet printers, the cost of the cartridges is the big negative here. You are looking at 600 pages of black and 415 in colour per cartridge. But with the printer, you can subscribe to a discount ink program making it cheaper to run.
Due to the fact that it is still quite a small printer, there is no internal paper feed tray which means to have to make sure that there is some always in the feeder. No big issue I don’t think. This paper feed can fit as much as 125 sheets of paper. So not bad at all. It’s also really quiet to run so it’s not a distraction when you are working.
This is a great printer for home business and a good one to get you started.
If you are looking to provide spot on colour with any of your printing whilst watching your budget, this one is for you. Provided you don’t need large volumes, this one should really do the job, and it looks great. If you want something that is a bit more efficient in terms of print costs and faster on colour printing, have a look at the Brother MFC-J5720DW Injet printer review
A big thumbs up from me, and that’s why it’s in my top 3.
