My recommendation:  Moms Making Six Figures is a portal for you to join Melaleuca. A MLM in Wellness. Seen it all before? If you want a way to build a REAL business and full time income where you aren’t one of the 95% who fail in MLM, check out my no 1 recommendation

What is Moms Making Six Figures?

“Bringing women home to their lives”. A nice strapline, but what is the business?

When you go to their website, which is very nice, there is nothing about what the business involves, it just shows you video testimonials from Moms about how they have achieved success and the life balance we all strive for, led by the owner Heidi’ story.  This is the only statement upfront:

Check this out:

Our team members are marketing representatives for US-based manufacturer of consumer products. As a member of Moms Making Six Figures, your role will be to educate others in your community about our products.

In order to find out what it’s really about you have to sign up. I have to say this puts me off from the beginning. Why hide what it’s about, tell me now, and I can decide. What are they trying to hide? A little infuriating.

What they really do is that they make money from selling Melaleuca products which is a health and wellness company selling a range of things from protein shakes, to essential oils to skincare (the standard offering that you might find at similar MLMs like Amway or Herbalife).

So why shouldn’t you just join Melaleuca and make money directly through that MLM? Are there any other benefits of joining Moms Making Six figures:

Let’s find out more:

What additional help does Moms Making Six Figures give?

So you are selling Melaleuca products and Moms Making Six Figures sell you a package along with Melaleuca to ‘help you set up your business’, with support. That’s pretty much it.

Essentially these people in the Moms Making Six Figures program are recruiting you into their Melaleuca downline. I find this a bit of a shady way to do this. Essentially you are paying more for joining an MLM than you should.

When you join you get big starter packs and access to help for a monthly commission. That could be useful to help you get going, but you get training and help through joining Melaleuca, although I cannot vouch for the quality of this. Again the details of this are only provided when you get to the opt in page. So that they can call and convince you in person.

If you are here because you are looking for a way to make money from home

The thing I don’t like about this is that because of the name, they already have some information about their customers: You are Moms desperately trying to find a way to make a decent income which fits around your lives. This was me, so I know how hard it is. So do you think they don’t play on those heart strings? Moms in this situation often think that MLM or direct selling is the only way, but let me tell you there are other ways to make a fantastic income to fit around your lives.

When they do get your details, you give up your phone number and receive a call with a half hour presentation on how to make money with Moms Making Six figures.

Then you will receive follow up calls about the program from someone in the team who will try to get you to buy in

Moms Making Six Figures Complaints

There are a few complaints I found online:

  • First Moms Making Six Figures is not BBB accredited, which isn’t bad on it’s own, but it isn’t good.
  • People have reported cancelling their contracts with Melaleuca only to be charged repeatedly month after month
  • There have been reports that the initial money spent which you are lead to believe is for products, that Melaleuca take as a ‘consulting fee’ without any products being provided

My verdict

In order to answer my question, Is Moms Making Six Figures a Scam, I would say no. Not at all, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

The Moms who make these six figures are pretty much definitely not going to be you.

I don’t doubt that there are Moms out there who do make six figures but these are the ones that sit at the top of the business. As commissions roll in from new members and they get a cut, their salaries increase while you are working hard at the bottom to do all the recruiting.

I have to say, I really am not a fan of MLM and direct selling, recruiting friends and family into your team. I have been to so many parties where ‘friends’ have tried to sell to me and it’s totally awkward. I have even lost a friend who wouldn’t let her ‘opportunity’ drop and kept on pushing and pushing.

I think you have to be a certain kind of person to be successful in this sort of business, and it’s not for me. So if you interested in joining, this would be my first question. Can you see yourself doing that day in day out?

Secondly, why not just join Melaleuca? The added benefit you get from joining Moms Making Six Figures is minimal.

Thirdly, should you join Melaleuca itself? Well this is a different question altogether. But again, I wouldn’t advocate this. For the same reason as before, that I don’t like the MLM business model. In addition, statistics stand that 95% of people fail in MLM. the remaining 5% are those millionaires you hear about.

So what now?

So if you thought that this was your path to success and I have put you off, don’t worry there are other ways to make a full time income without having to jump through hoops and sell to friends and family.

If you want to build a profitable income and build your own business without having to lose family and friends and to avoid the pitfalls of direct selling, try my top recommendation.

    Hi Ruth,

I was working for one of the biggest MLM companies in the world for two years in the back office. MLM is not easy to do. You need a lot of time, commitment, correct environment to grow. Using social media is crucial here. You don’t want to get to your family or closest friends as they will finish pretty soon. You need higher range to get to as many people as possible. Having a good product is a key here. Even if you have these two things it still doesn’t give you 100% chance of success.

    • Ruth says:

Thanks for your comments Simon. I completely agree, it has to be one of the toughest business models to be successful in. Your tip about using social media is a good one to avoid losing your family and friends over it.

It is true, almost all the time websites that claim will help you get money from home, they don`t give you a lot of information about them very often. And when you join them, you realize that making the amount of money you wanted to, will take much more effort than what you had thought.

    • Ruth says:

      Hi Nahim.

Yes indeed I do find it highly frustrating when you aren’t given the information upfront. Whether the business is legit or not by not providing this it appears that something is shady. You never REALLY know what you are getting into.

      Thanks for leaving your comments
