What is Be the Boss Network About?

This is a business directory which supposedly collects your information to match you with work from home opportunities and home based business ideas.

More specifically it matches you with MLM opportunities. These are direct selling companies where you sell directly to customers and in addition make money by recruiting people into your team. They make no secret of this, which is great.

Want to know a bit more about Multi-Level-Marketing companies and the MLM business model, have a read of this article.

This website is not about making money online, so if you are more interested in that, have a read of my no 1 recommendation

With all of the business opportunities listed here you will need to invest some money in each program to get started. Then, in the majority of opportunities, upsells are frequently found which means that you can’t reach your end goals UNLESS you continue to buy more and more products. Although not always the case, this can be a dangerous way to lose money!

For this reason I started to become wary about this directory.. And here is why.

Considerations before joining

First of all you need to decide if MLM business is something you are interested in.

Are you ready to start in direct selling, ie  are you ready to follow a push selling strategy for marketing, by going out and finding customers and selling to them?

This is a very personal choice and It’s important to note that you have to be the right kind of person for this sort of business to be successful. The people who try MLM and don’t have the sales talk and the ability to sell to friends and family are generally the ones who don’t succeed in this business. Personally it’s not for me.

You may have come across these kinds of businesses before, perhaps you have been invited to selling parties, or even been involved in MLMs before. Either way, you might have an opinion on whether this is the KIND of business for you or not.

If you are more interested in pull selling strategies where your customers are looking for you and where you don’t have to direct sell, you might want to look at other business models such as affiliate marketing which is offered by companies such as Wealthy Affiliate.

I digress! So If you like MLM, lets see if Be the Boss network will help you get started.

What kind of businesses can you find on BTB network?

Well this was the first thing that bothered me.

Some of the first jobs I saw listed were about some MLM products that I have reviewed already. Some of these which i consider to be some of the much bigger bad opportunities out there. I can’t use the word scam as that is inaccurate. What I mean is that they are incredibly difficult to make money, you are forced into upsell after upsell and ultimately you will end up losing money.

Sick of upsells and false promises?

Try this program to make honest money online

So what are these businesses?. The first two I noticed were ACN and Empower Network.  However, I shouldn’t tarnish everything with this brush. They do have some good MLM businesses there.

the Be the boss Network Review

But this is a directory listing which mixes in good and bad business. How are you supposed to know what are the good ones, unless you spend hours and hours researching each one to see what is best?

Therefore there is no real benefit to joining this program. Yes you get a lot of opportunities in one place, but you aren’t given any advice on what to choose. If I were interested in MLM that is what I would want. Maybe some sort of rating system?

How do they make their money?

They get money once they ‘partner’ you with a program. This is where there lies the fault. They will get a commission no matter what. So do you think they care whether you get the RIGHT business, or whether they partner you with the business that pays the most commission?

Everytime someone joins a program through them, you are counted as their referral. So they make money. In addition, some of the businesses on their network are actually owned by them. So who do you think they are going to push?

The benefits

  • There are thousands of products on there and you get a small summary of each one right upfront. This could help to narrow it down
  • The idea of a business directory such as this is great. And very useful, but there need to be some improvements

The drawbacks

  • There is no legislation over which are the good products and which are the bad ones
  • There is no rating system of their recommended products, so they don’t add any value.
  • You will be recommended those that make them the most money
  • There should be some other content included such as linking with networking websites such as IBOtoolbox or ways to drive leads. Something that adds more value for those into MLM
  • There are other, much better ways of working from home for much less cost

My verdict

is be the boss network a scamIs be the Boss a Scam?

No definitely not. But I would not recommend joining them UNLESS you are prepared to do a lot of additional research. If you are then there is really no point in joining them as every product they recommend, I would then recommend researching again.

Perhaps it’s useful to give you a LIST of MLM companies so that you know where to start? If that’s helpful then by all means join up as it is free. But to be honest you are better off looking at somewhere more reliable like Wikipedia for a list, see this link, and just running through each one.

It’s a real shame that they don’t ONLY recommend the good ones. I can’t say that I know ALL of the programs on their books, but I can spot the bad ones, so I know they are there.

My final advice through this Be the Boss Network Review is not really to bother. You won’t really get any additional value than the link from wikipedia above and you MIGHT be steered in the wrong direction.

I hope I have been able to help. Let me know if you want to know more or have any question on my Be the Boss Network Review.

“Be the Boss” looks like a very good and useful concept for anyone who is interested in making money online.

But as you have pointed out that they mix both bad as well as good businesses and we have to again do our own research to identify the good businesses. Might as well take the help of Wikipedia from the start itself.

Thanks for the heads-up, I would have definitely given it a try if i hadn’t read your review !!!

Hi Aparajit, If you do give it a try there is nothing lost in terms of money, all I would say is just be wary of the direction you might be ‘directed’ into. Which kind of negates the benefit. Thanks for your comments though, and good luck with your business.

Hello Ruth , so I understood correctly it is a network that lists MLM companies and makes money when you join one of them in the form of commissions.

They are not providing any reviews , not even from other users , it is just a professional catalogue.

It can be used by those who are into MLM opportunities as a quick tool or a list.

One friend of mine is in a constant hunt for MLMs so I will pass him the link.

Thank you for this review , cheers.

    • Ruth says:

Yes that is correct. That’s the thing I think they need to change, but when they are making commission from some but not others, you can’t always trust the recommendations. As I mentioned I would just use this list to get a gist of what he likes and then research each one independently, Here is a list of MLMs from Wikipedia if that helps. Tiresome, but it’s probably the best way.

I wish him, and you good luck!

I liked this post as it gives me a good overview of Be The Boss Network. It is good to know that they get a commission for their referrals.

You say there are thousands of different MLM’s on their list. I did not even think there were that many out there.

What led you to find this site? Do they have any decent MLM’s on there or do you think most MLM’s are risky?

    • Ruth says:

Thanks for your comments Geoff. Yes they do have some reputable and well known MLMs on there, but I have a problem with MLMs in general. They are incredibly difficult to be highly successful in. You can make a bit of money here and there, but sadly, due to the compensation plans, most of the money goes to those who have been in it from the beginning. I also don’t like the push method of selling, it’s far to pushy for my liking. If you are super keen on MLM’s then by all means take a look and if there are some that take your fancy and which I can help you out with to know whether they are legit or not, please just let me know.

I have an article on MLMs if you are interested. I hope this helps a bit.
