What is Affilorama? A Full Review

What is affilorama

So, what is Affilorama? Affilorama, in a sentence, is an affiliate marketing training program designed to help anyone who signs up to learn how to set up an online affiliate marketing business.

You could be a complete novice and wanting to set up from scratch or you could be someone who already has experience. It is quite an intensive training course but i have broken it all down below so that you can understand a bit more. This is my Affilorama review 2015 and we are going to find out if it is the best affiliate marketing training out there..

Company Name: Affilorama

Website URL: www.affilorama.com

Cost: Starter membership: FREE, Premium Membership $67 per month

My Ranking: 4.5 out of 5 stars

So how does Affilorama work?

The idea behind Affilorama is to teach you affiliate marketing and how to build your website. You are then taught how to use this website alongside other marketing tools, such as social media, backlinking and email marketing, to reach your customers. You build your website around a niche that interests you and you sell other people’s products on that website. For every sale you will get a commission. So you don’t need to have any products yourself. This is the foundation of affiliate marketing.

Affilorama, at its basic level, the free level, you get access to a pdf starter pack and video training, written materials and interviews with successful affiliate marketers.  You do get quite quite alot for nothing, Included in the free membership is email updates and I have found some really useful training included here for free. And if you have a little knowledge already this might just be enough.

Included is content creation, Search Engine Optimisation and Pay per click techniques. NOTE: You do not get a hosted website in this package like you do in some others.

Affilorama, at the Premium level, for $67 per month provides you with more training at an advanced marketing level, 15 marketing tools to be exact. Quite a lot I think. In addition, you get hours and hours of high quality training.

The membership levels and the packages or add ons are somewhat confusing and take a little bit of time to understand so I will help you out. I found that trying to understand this put me off a bit, so hopefully helping you out here will mean that YOU aren’t put off by this factor, as the training is excellent, so it would be a shame to miss out.

There is an added bonus in that you can try the premium level for 30 days for $1, which I really like, I love it when you have a free trial as there means there is nothing to hide and nothing to lose, it means they believe in their own product.

You can see the comparison between free and premium below:

Additional Affilorama add ons:

Number 1: Affilorama Blueprint – next stage from Free

AffiloBlueprintThe cost of this $197 one off cost. This is not to be mistaken for the Premium package. You can add AffiloBlueprint if you are a free member, to give you a bit extra without having to pay a monthly cost. But it’s important to note that you do not get any support with this.

So what do you get in the Blueprint?

You get 13 lessons, 85 videos covering topics from affiliate marketing, niche marketing and research, instruction on how to work with generating site traffic through SEO and PPC, and 6 wordpress themes to design your site. As I mentioned, there is no support with this package so if you want this you have to pay an additional $67 a month for the premium membership, so if you feel you might need support you are best off going for the Premium membership INSTEAD.

Number 2: AffiloJetpack – a ‘done for you’ business

AffiloJetpackThis costs $997 and is a one off cost (although look out for offers on this. It’s like a rocket to starting up your business, hence the name, and helps you to get started on many aspects of building a business which you might have otherwise struggled with.

This is a high price, so you have to be serious about being in the business. You would purchase this as a one off and may still want to pay for Premium membership at $67 to get the support and ongoing training, you decide.

The beauty of this one, is you get a lot of the hard work done for you. Tempting if you have the cash. If i had done when I started out I would have gone for this.

What you get:

  1. 90 + crafted emails with instructions on how and when to send them to your subscriber list, which you will be taught how to build
  2. One click website set up with 12 months hosting included
  3. Preselected and pre-researched niches to choose from to ensure that you are working within a profitable niche.
  4. Cheat sheets to get better quality articles for less work, giving you guidance on how and what to write
  5. Information on 18 profitable niches for you to choose from so you don’t have to do the research adn worry whether you have chosen wrongly
  6. Access to Affilotheme, see below
  7. Traffic generating strategies
  8. And a money back guarentee

This is a lot of money to part with but the sales pitch is very enticing.

what is affiloramaNumber 3: Affilotheme

The cost of this is a one off $97. This is essentially a WordPress theme with training. You also get one years worth of free hosting. But it’s important to note that you have to be a Premium member to maintain your hosting beyond this.

If you don’t take them up on this offer you will need to build and host your own WordPress site, but they do give you all the information you need to be able to do this.

Who is Affilorama for?

Affilorama can be for anyone from a complete novice to an expert marketer.

The price tag is the issue here, but if you are able to try premium membership for a $1 for 30 days, its a no brainer to try and test it and see if its for you. You do have to be serious about getting started though, but if you are hungry for your own online business, once you get inside and start seeing the training, you will probably become addicted!

what is affilorama

The benefits of Affilorama

  1. The training is very comprehensive and there are many different ways in which you can work with this training. It is excellent training, well structured and up to date
  2. The jetpack idea is very appealing if you want to get there quickly, and the marketing messaging is very enticing
  3. The affiliate marketing community is one of the largest out there
  4. The emails that you get periodically, even as a free member are REALLY valuable. They introduce new training, sometimes associated partners etc. For example, they held a webinar with Adam Short from Niche Profit Full control which I think is another excellent program, which gives you some amazing insights into a different angle to approach. All for free.
  5. My favourite part is the try before you buy, trying premium membership for $1 for 30 days.

The drawbacks of Affilorama

  1. Be wary of the additional add ons, they are provide something different and something good, but it’s easy to get carried away spending too much, just be aware.
  2. It is incredibly confusing to work out which program you should be on. Hopefully I have been able to help you out here.
  3. The upsell is a little annoying but just let it wash over you, it’s a shame to lose out on such great quality training

My verdict – Is Affilorama a scam?

In answer to is Affilorama a scam – the answer is absolutely not!

is affilorama a scamAffilorama is a really strong business proposition and I believe it completely legitimate. You will get some excellent training here from some truly successful affiliate marketeers.

The best part is what you get for FREE. You really do get a lot of information, and their reason for doing this is so that you build the trust in them and go on to purchase more. It works. It’s a great plan.

I would recommend it for anyone just starting out or anyone who already has experience. And if I had the money when I was starting out, I have to say, I would be tempted by the jetpack offering. A lot of people give up on online marketing because it takes so much time to build a business, and this will help you with the short cuts.

If you are interested in joining Affilorama, then you can get to their website here

I see a lot of people flocking to this particular online teaching course but I’ve never been too sure about it. I fear it is a course that gives huge emphasis on outdated information – espeically when it comes to covering things like backlinks. Now I know some marketers beleive that backlinks are still powerful but I’ve never seen any proof of this – I rank brilliantly without one single backlink?

    • Ruth says:

This is true. You don’t NEED backlinks to rank. Check out my article on the top ranking factors and as you say you can rank really well without that Some of my articles are no 1 on google without any backlinks. Some gurus say that you ONLY need backlinks. Sure you can rank with backlinks, but that is just one factor. Affilorama has reduced it’s emphasis on backlinks, and this is only one feature of the course. It is more expensive than others out there such as Wealthy Affiliate, so this would be my preferred option, but It is still a very strong course with some excellent training. The one thing I don’t like is all the upsells, but if you just ignore them, you will get great training. I hope that answers your question.

  2. Juan says:

I have not seen a lot of legitimate affiliate marketing training programs that actually help in creating a successful business. What I like about this program is all the free training it provides.

The jetpack option seem tempting since creating a successful business can take years, but I am the kind of person who likes to do things himself. The program is definitely worth trying, I will let you know how it works out for me.

    • Ruth says:

Thanks for your comments Juan. Yes please do let me know how you get on, I would love to hear it. I know what you mean about tempting. If I had the money, to be honest, I would!

  3. bioelectrobot says:

It’s great to see these programs with free starter memberships. It allows people to actually try a full product before making a decision. I really like the idea. Even one dollar for full 30 access is a great deal. Seems that the AffiloJetpack is an automation tool for affiliate marketing. I’d never thought about automating something like affiliate marketing. It’s amazing how many things we do that can become candidates for automation.
There are so many tools available to assist in online business and especially affiliate marketing. Thanks for adding to the mix by reviewing this product.

    • Ruth says:

No problem at all. There is A LOT on offer with Affilorama, so plenty to choose from to suit your requirements. If you are interested in affiliate marketing, I would also recommend Wealthy Affiliate which is cheaper and the training is excellent. Good luck in your online business, I wish you lots of success!

  4. Marcus says:

I’ve had a look at Affilorama before, and it does look quite good. I must admit, I am intrigued by the “done for you” business. It kind of sounds too good to be true. The one-click website definitely seems too good to be true. Does this mean it will be a copy of other websites? Or does it mean they will have paid someone to build the website, including all the content? I just don’t think it would be as good as a website you build yourself that has the personal touch.

I think if Wealthy Affiliate didn’t exist, it would be something to consider, though.

    • Ruth says:

I agree, the Affilojetpack is definitely a tempting offer. It’s not a turnkey business as such, but they provide a lot of the content structured and built for you. THEN you have to tweak it and adjust it so that it is individual. Otherwise, as you probably know, then Google will penalise you for having duplicated content on your site, as there will be another one out there, at least..

So you do have to be a little careful about this. BUT Mark Ling is an expert and very aware of this and all of the training is there to make sure you know what you are doing and so that this doesn’t happen.

Personally I do like building my own business from scratch. I find it much more rewarding and this way you KNOW your business is individual. This is what Wealthy Affiliate teaches, and this is a really sustainable long term business.

Thanks for your feedback, I hope I was able to help.

  5. Stephanie says:

    Hi Ruth:

Thank you for your review of Affilorama. I agree it is not a scam, but I do not appreciate the upsells and the price tag. It is awesome that they do have a free membership option which gives you access to 100 free videos and other areas. And I like the $1 membership for the first month, but after that $67 a month seems high to me. Not to mention the upsells such as the JetPack costing nearly a thousand dollars. I would not pay for someone to build my business. Part of the achievement and success one experiences from having an online business is building it themselves.

Have a great day and thank you again!

I like your article – it’s very well written and easy to read due to the well thought layout.

I’m just new in online business and that’s the first reason I like your article because I get to know about new product thanks for sharing your review.

I wish you best of luck.

  7. Chris says:

Sounds like a pretty solid way to get some sort of marketing experience and training online – have you tried it out yourself yet?
I like the way they are offering 100 free video tutorials – I learn much faster when I watch something as opposed to reading it. Is this the best marketing training currently out there?

    • Ruth says:

I have tried Affilorama, and you do get a lot for free. They have training seminars and video training which even as a free member you can take advantage of. It’s definately worth signing up to have a look, even if you have no intention of paying. I believe they are a truly legitimate business.

  8. Victoria says:

    Hi Ruth
Thank you for the very comprehensive review of Affiliorama. I had heard of it but never found the time to delve into the detail. You clearly confirm that this is not a scam and have put my mind at rest. I must say though that the cost does seem to be a bit on the high side, especially when taking into account the fact that you need to add on web-hosting etc.
Having said that – I think you did a great job of laying it all out so comprehensively.

    All the best to you

  9. Robin Sawyer says:

I’ve been looking around for GOOD affiliate marketing training as I’m convinced that it is a legitimate way to get an online income.
But GOOD not only includes thorough and easy to follow training, but something that is affordable as well. I’m really happy I came across this review as I might have taken the plunge with them based on their $1 deal.

    • Ruth Maisey says:

Thanks for your feedback Robin. Yes I think its a shame that you aren’t given these details upfront and that it’s not clearer as to exactly what you MIGHT need to purchase. Good luck with your business!

  10. Cathy says:

    Hi Ruth,

Before I joined WA, I did the free trial with Affiliorama. To me, the videos were a bit too commercial oriented, I couldn’t really engage with anyone on the forum and I certainly wasn’t impress with the up-sell programs.

After reading much about PLR articles, I questioned the validity of using them in the premium accounts. You pay so much just to use a copy-and-paste material on your blog? It doesn’t make sense to me.

At Wealthy Affiliate, I am taught to create original content for my website and to date, I have almost 120 blog posts published, despite my fear for writing. They are ranking very well on the search engines too. Originality rocks!

    • Ruth Maisey says:

That’s interesting Cathy. I think the PLR articles are more a thing of the past as they have recognised that not creating original content is incredibly dangerous to an online business, and can destroy it in a day. But they still practice slightly questionable back-linking strategies, which I would also be wary of. I think you can get a sense of a business from the off, and if you felt like the video content was too salesy, then you were righ to trust your instinct

And well done you for publishing such a good amount of content, thats what is Wealthy Affiliate about!. You must be doing really well

  11. A.D.Rice says:

Thanks for this review. I have heard of Affilorama before and I bought one of Mark Ling’s products. The website is very good for what it offers and the training and forums are very helpful and clearly laid out. Just like Wealthy Affiliate you do have the opportunity to try the program and understand what you are buying and see if it’s for you. It doesn’t have all the convenience extras Wealthy Affiliate has to really take training and resources to that extra level but it’s definitely worth considering – You will learn and if you are serious and put the tutorials in action, you will see results. It comes a good second in terms of online internet training for me.

    • Ruth Maisey says:

Great. I would agree. It’s a really good program, and there is alot there. Beware of the costs, but if you have the money it is a great legitimate business. But I would agree, its second place for me too.

  12. Tanya says:

    Hi there,

Affilorama at first sounded like what I was looking for in regards to finding an Affiliate Network program.,..UNTIL you got to the part about the upsells. I have been involved in too many scams online to where they tell you it’s one price then once your in they start upselling you and basically if you want to be successful you feel you have no choice or get out. I don’t like that.

I do however like the comparison you have with Wealthy Affiliate… I will be looking more into Wealthy Affiliate for sure. Thanks for sharing.

  13. roamy says:

Thanks for a clear well written and easy to understand review of Affilorama.
What’s better, you have put an image so one can check side to side what Affilorama offers compared to another programme. This gives your reader a chance to make informed decision to join the programme or not to.
l have never used Affilorama and I guess im not going to any time soon, what with the price tag?totally out of my reach
Once again, thanks so much for your review

    • Ruth Maisey says:

I’M glad I could help. The price tag is out of most peoples reach I think and takes a huge leap of faith! But it is good training, you have to just weight it all up!

  14. Mrschippy says:

Hi there – I hadn’t heard of affilorama to be honest and i know a bit about affiliate marketing. Thanks for the review, it was very thorough. Sounds bit pricey to me and I’m also not a fan of lots of upsells once they’ve got you hooked, so I’ll be giving this a wide berth I think. Wealthy Affiliate sounds far more inclusive. Have you joined this programme yourself? Cheers

    • Ruth Maisey says:

Hi there. Thank you for taking the time to comment on What is Affilorama! Yes I have joined Wealthy Affiliate. This is why I feel so confident to promote their service. It really is second to none, and it’s such good value. It’s worth a try, because you can try for free, so there is nothing to lose. I can’t recommend it enough!

  15. Lynne says:

Thanks for this comprehensive Affilorma review. It confirms everything I have read about them so far.
I don’t believe they are a scam either, but they are very expensive and you still need to get your hosting, domains etc to get started on top of the upsells they offer to really give the training you need. One big concern is that they offer backlinking training. This really is an outdated method of online marketing and can really be detrimental to your website. From this I gather that their training is not updated regularly?

    • Ruth Maisey says:

Thanks Lynne for your comments on What is Affilorama. They do update their training regularly but they still focus on the backlink training which, if Google changes things suddenly can cause a huge impact to your site. You are best off focusing on good quality relevant content. This is what Wealthy affiliate teaches. Then you secure your sites future. And yes, you do have to be careful about the hidden costs. It can cost alot of money to get there!

  16. Beautiful site! That was a very thorough review on Affiliorama! I have only heard the name before reading your site! I really dislike companies that lure you in with a low initial fee, and then make you broke with all of their upsells! I don’t know if I’d like someone selecting my niche for me. I want to write about the things I’m interested in, not what they are interested in! Fantastic job!!

  17. This is an interesting article on Affilorama. I had considered them as an option, but the price tag was just too high. I have never heard of Wealthy Affiliate, but you mentioned they do the same thing for a much cheaper price. I think I will have a look at the free starter pack I read about in your wealthy affiliate review and see what its about. Thanks for the information.

  18. Fidel says:

Great review you have right here. I have heard of this program but I thought it was a scam due to the numerous up-sales. I hate programs with so much up-sales. But from your review it seems this program is a legit one. I guess it will be worth a try then since from your review it seems to deliver on what it says.

But do you have any member testimonial on success with this program?

    • Ruth Maisey says:

Thanks for your question Fidel. I don’t have any member testimonials on this program, but it is something I am hoping to find and will add to my review in due course. I have your details so I will let you know when I have updated the review. Thanks again for your feedback.
