What is Appcoiner About?

Appcoiner is a program that pays you to test new apps out on your smartphone or tablet. Sounds like an easy way to make money online, doesn’t it?

Well let’s find out more.

It’s as simple as joining, selecting an app, writing a review and getting paid. That’s it.

But this is a brand new program and they are trying to get people to sign up, so before they really tell you anything you have to enter your email address.

How does Appcoiner work?

The reason for this program makes sense. The app market is definitely exploding at the moment and this means there are loads of developers out there trying to get THEIR apps noticed. And this is where appcoiner comes in. Getting more reviews, which your review would be, a genuine review from someone who has tried the product is a great way for new apps to be noticed and considered serious.

I think, these days we all check out reviews before we buy anything, don’t we, so reviews make sense.

This all sounds reasonable from a developers point of view.

But what do YOU get out of it.

This is where it all gets a little shady.

As I see it, you make money in two ways:

  • Through the review that you post in the members area. If someone reads it and because of this purchase the app, then you get a commission
  • AND You need to create a website, post your reviews on there and WHEN SOMEONE reads your review and BUYS the app, then you get paid. Not sounding so easy now is it!

NOTE: in both cases you only get paid if someone purchases the app.

Appcoiner will help you to get to this point with some ebooks and some loose training on how to write reviews and get your website started, but let’s have a think about what this really involves:

You will need:

  • to build a website
  • pay for hosting
  • learn how to rank your website high on search engine results. Not an easy task if you don’t know what you are doing and if you don’t have the right tools.
  • Pay for paid traffic

This could actually become really costly!

How much does Appcoiner cost?

Well this threw me a bit, I wasn’t expecting to have to pay to join.

But Appcoiner charges $27 to join the program. This is a one off charge, and there is a 60 day money back guarantee.

Once you pay the $27 you get access to the members area where you are able to download the apps that need reviewing and where you can post your reviews (remember this is only half the story, you will need to post these reviews on your website as well), and you only get paid a commission IF they sell.

Can you make money with Appcoiner?

Well Appcoiner is a pretty new program, so it’s hard to say, but let me tell you what I think.

Firstly, if you were going to buy an app where would you look?

In the app store or in Google Play marketplace. And where would you read the reviews about this app. Just right there. On the VERY ODD occasion, if you were spending more money than your average app, you might wander off and check out a few other reviews.

Therefore the traffic you will be getting to your site is minimal IF, and it’s a big IF, you are ranked high on page 1. Do you know how to do this?

How many other people will join Appcoiner and do the same for the same apps,  how will your reviews stand out and how will you make those sales?

On their website, once your have signed up, you can calculate how much you will earn, take a look.

Appcoiner Review

So they aren’t promising the earth. But what they are saying is that you will make a commission on EVERY SINGLE app you review.

Based on the model I have described above, how likely do you think this is? VERY UNLIKELY in my opinion.

Now everything changes and we are talking about making pocket money for quite a lot of work.

But is Appcoiner a scam? It’s a borderline scam, where you are not being given the full facts before you pay to join.

My verdict

I personally wouldn’t bother with this program unless you have a serious interest in apps, and are happy to review them as a hobby. I hope this Appcoiner Review has helped you to see this.

I seriously don’t think you will earn big bucks here, or in fact anything anywhere near decent, and I think it could end up being a really frustrating business where you spend a lot of time for very little money

But if you are still interested in Appcoiner you can check it out here.

So what now?

If you are really serious about making an income online, then I don’t think Appcoiner is the way to do it. So what DO I suggest?

Well to get started you need all the right tools, support and training to build a business into something of your own where you can make a full time income that will become passive over time.

    Hi Ruth,
This Appcoiner sounds very much like a scam to me.
It’s like flogging a dead horse, you’re going to get nowhere.

The cost of setting a website up and the time involved driving traffic and writing reviews is a non starter to me.
Do you know how much you receive when someone purchases the app?

I would have thought the majority go to the app store to search for new apps too.
Sounds like a right waste of time to me.

I like your idea of something that really works, I’m checking that out now, very interested. I’ll be in touch.

    Thank you for this review,
    Simon.

      Hi Simon

Thanks so much for your feedback. It does sound like a lot of effort for very little! I certainly wouldn’t recommend it!

Let me get this straight. You do all the work to show off an app, get people to buy it, and then and only then do you get a commission. Sounds ok, but you’re telling me I have to PAY to get to do this? Seriously, this sounds like a scam to me. Thanks for bring this to light.

    • Ruth says:

Ha yes. You have to pay first. A lot of work for what I believe will be very little reward. Not worth your time I’m afraid!
